Now is the time of year to clear out all those jumpers and that trusty old black polo neck that’s seen you through the winter. The great thing about living in Spain is that you can get loads of wear out of summer clothes as you start wearing them in March with a cardi and continue right through until the end of October. It really is worth getting organised and if you are anything like me, a little trip to the UK to stock up, may be in order. You can’t go wrong with the following:
Lightweight spring mac in either a neutral or acid bright colour – Zara
Casual, white linen trousers – H&M
Smart white linen trousers – Marks and Spencers, Monsoon
White tshirts in various styles – smock, wide strapped vests, puff sleeved, scoop neck, v neck, round neck (best avoided by bigger busts), longline – Marks and Spencer’s, Top Shop
City shorts in a neutral colour – Zara
Pumps or sandals – Zara or Top Shop
Once you have these basics to see you through summer you can mix them with some cheap, colourful, trendy tunics and smock tops. Don’t forget to add a couple of this season’s funky pendants from Dorothy Perkins or Top Shop.
The Best Shops
Primark
For summer clothes, you shouldn’t need to spend lots of money. If you can get a cheap flight back to the UK, it’s worth it to stock up for the summer in primark. Okay, it only lasts a season but this season’s smock tops and tunics will be tired by September so why spend too much.
Top Shop
Great for both basics but in the latest shapes and quirky, individual, vintage looking pieces. Best for their choice of pendants.
Monsoon
A grown up version of Top Shop. Good quality but in keeping with the latest trends.
Zara
A bit less ‘individual’ than Top Shop but great for the variety of acid brights but a little on the small side.
