Coffee In Spain Won't Make You Fat

If you enjoy your Starbucks but can’t figure out why a couple of coffees a week are making you pile on the pounds then think about moving to Spain. The truth is some of the big chains in the UK are serving drinks that have the calorific content of a small meal. Simply switching a Starbucks mocha for a Spanish café con leche will save you a whopping 500 calories. If you are a daily coffee drinker, over the space of a month, you could probably lose up to half a stone effortlessly. However, Starbucks and Caffe Nero do make coffee an exciting experience with their enticing promotions and wall displays. Most people don’t know where to start in Spain so these are the basics:

short black coffee
long black coffee
cortado (which is a short black coffee with a drop of milk) This type of coffee can be  ordered to specify how much milk is used.
cortado 'short of coffee'
cortado 'with very little milk'
cortado 'with very hot milk'
cortado 'with cold milk'
cafe con leche (black coffee with milk)
American coffee (which is a larger black coffee in a bigger cup, only weaker as it has more water added)
cappucino
Suizo (topped with whipped cream)
caramel (with a squirt of condensed milk)
carajillo (coffee with a drop of spirits, anisette/brandy/whisky/rum, etc.)
 iced coffee

One thing is for sure they are much smaller quantities than what is served in Starbucks so are less likely to make you put on weight.
