Autumn and Winter Fashion Basics and Trends in Spain

Autumn and Winter Fashion in Spain

Although we are in summer clothes for much longer here in Spain, before you know it we start thinking about covering more of our bodies. When putting together your Autumn/Winter wardrobe, it’s best to start with the basics and then weave in the treads. Some items that started off as trends over past seasons are now considered fashion stables and can also become part of your Autumn/Winter capsule wardrobe.

To begin with make sure you have the following to see you through Autumn Winter:

  • A good pair of indigo boot cut jeans; these can be dressed up or down.
  • Black trousers
  • Black pencil skirt to wear with little cardis and white shirt
  • A fitted white shirt
  • Black jumper or cardigan
  • Lots of plain vest tops and t-shirts in different colours (these are ideal for layering on those days when you may be in and out and the temperature keeps changing) get lots of cheap ones in varying lengths and you can’t go wrong. Try H&M.
  • Plain long sleeve tops.
  • A pair of black ballet pumps
  • A well fitting trench coat or mac
  • A black wool coat. Try Zara
  • A good pair of leather boots
  • A nice skirt that you can wear with either the boots or the pumps depending on the temperature, possible a denim one.
  • A pair of cosy Uggs or Uggs alike
  • Warm scarf and gloves (it gets cold enough for these in Spain sometimes!)
  • Black opaque tights

You can then gradually add more and more essentials to this list such as:

  • Knitwear – lots of different coloured crew necks for small chests and v-neck for larger busts Try Zara for this but be prepared to get a size bigger to allow for some shrinkage
  • Ballet pumps in lots of different colours. Try Stravadarious, Zara and Blanco if you are on a budget
  • Skinny or straight jeans in black and indigo.Try H&M
  • Pair of black city shorts
  • Wide leg trousers in black or grey
  • A couple of wrap dresses
  • Black slouchy dress (modern classic)
  • Different coloured polonecks (puff sleeved one are quite cute)
  • A fitted black shirt

Make it interesting with accessories:

  • leather handbags
  • necklaces
  • beads
  • earrings
  • scarves
  • belts
  • Pashminas

Once you have these basics, you are set for the season, you just have to add some trendy pieces or your look can become a bit boring and classic.

Try including a couple of the following looks to make it more interesting for Autumn/Winter:

  • A coloured wool coat perhaps in red or this season’s mustard
  • A bomber jacket. Try H&M for their grey leather one priced at 99euros.
